The Tiffany Diamond in Death on the Nile

The Tiffany Diamond is one of the largest and finest yellow diamonds in the world. Discovered in 1877 in South Africa, a 287.42 carat diamond was purchased by company founder Charles Lewis Tiffany for $18,000. The rough stone was transported to Paris, where Tiffany’s chief gemologist, Dr. George Frederick Kunz, led the process of cutting the one-of-a-kind piece.

The result is a 128.54 carat cushion-shaped diamond with an unprecedented 82 facets, 24 facets more than the traditional 58 facet round brilliant cut.
