Nearly 40 years after the famous Octopussy heist with Fabergé eggs, the James Bond franchise is collaborating with the iconic off-screen brand for the first time, celebrating 60 years of 007 and 180 years of Faberge.
The Fabergé x 007 Egg Objet will aim to “bring Bond stories to life in its design” with subtle nods to Bond’s signature gadgets. In terms of production, the upcoming egg will “showcase the most innovative and technologically advanced movements Fabergé has created to date.”
According to Faberge, the joint product 007 will contain a number of “amazing elements” that will be revealed in 2023, the 40th anniversary of the Octopussy movie. Although the Faberge Egg was central to the plot of the 1983 film, it was actually a prop adorned with Swarovski crystals, meaning the upcoming single egg is the first of its kind.
Fabergé Creative Director Josina von dem Busche-Kessel said: “This is an exciting opportunity for us to connect the legendary screen story of the world’s most famous secret agent with the world-famous Fabergé art. With this unique and innovative piece, these two icons will intersect where immersive entertainment meets engineering excellence in precious materials.”
